Biography
A former U.S. Poet Laureate, Robert Hass was born in San Francisco, California. Hass, currently a professor of English at UC Berkeley, has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize, the MacArthur Fellowship, twice the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Yale Series of Younger Poets. His deep commitment to environmental issues led him to found the River of Words poetry contest. Hass is a Trustee of The Griffin Trust For Excellence In Poetry.
